In the News: NC NAHSE Member Dana Weston tells Bizwomen whe she is a fan of napping
As president of the newest hospital in the UNC Health Care family, Dana Weston spends a lot of time on her feet, and that's why she slips out of her heels and into flats between meetings.
UNC Rockingham Health Care in Eden, N.C. officially became UNC Health Care’s 13th affiliated hospital Jan. 1. It includes an acute care hospital, emergency room, outpatient surgery, skilled nursing facility and physician practices.
The Bizwomen Headliner's typical workday is spent overseeing the day-to-day operations of the hospital, working on strategic plans for the future, spending time across the organization with her "amazing" team, and serving in the community.
Here's how she answered Bizwomen's 7 Questions:
First job? My first job as a teenager was working in a daycare. My favorite part was leading music time...and, of course, nap time. My first healthcare job was as an intern in Accreditation/Regulatory for Duke's Private Diagnostic. Both experiences taught me skills that I still use to this day.
Heels or flats? Both! I am usually seen in heels for meetings. I'm fairly tall and enjoy being even taller as I step into a board room! But I put on flats in between meetings. There is too much walking to do in a hospital to be in heels all day!
What do you always pack in your suitcase? A battery pack for my cell phone, a good book, and my favorite conditioner.
Beach or mountains? Where? I love the beach — something about the ocean calms me. The most beautiful beaches I’ve ever seen are in Africa. I would love to go every year if I could.
What animal would be your mascot? An eagle.
Guilty pleasure? Naps! I live for a good nap. Why don’t we still have nap time? Kindergarten was my favorite grade for this very reason.
